I taught 4th grade math this past year and celebrated when anyone got a passing score. At that point, I couldn't care less if it was an advanced pass (though I know it matters more to parents and kids on an individual basis). I honestly just wanted them to pull through because that test was BRUTAL. With the teaching conditions in place for my particular school and the types of questions on those tests, there was no way for me to prepare my students nearly as much as I would have liked. I had one student out of 65 get a 600. And there were plenty of "gifted" kids. To put it into perspective, 100% of my kids passed the year before, with about 6 who got a 600 and 3/4 of which advance passed.
