Great pick! Brings the discussion back to the economy where It should be... Not wondering if mitt is a murderer, tax dodger etc. Cant wait to see him wipe the floor with gaffe-tastic biden in the debate...

Yep but Ryan wants to gut Medicare and Social Security. No way that gets them Florida.

I think a lot of seniors realize that the current direction of our country's financial policies is going to ruin the futures of our children and grandchildren. Not that everything should be gutted, but certainly a heck of a lot of cutting needs to be done. Some hard decisions need to be made, and I will vote for the candidate who is brave enought to make them. I'm an older DCUM poster, and I know that I do not think that the most advanced medical procedures should be provided to me practically free when I'm towards the end of my life expectancy. I'd much rather my children and grandchildren not be saddled with an outrageous debt.

Yes, better that other taxpayers pay it.

I'm watching Romney's speech announcing Ryan as his VP pick and I'm struck at how Romney is spouting lie after lie. I'm not talking about stretching the truth or exaggerating, but outright, demonstrable lies. That suggests a weakness that no VP candidate will be able to overcome.

“In Section 63, in verse 17 of the Doctrine and Covenants of the Mormon Church we find this: ‘All liars, and whosoever loveth and and maketh a lie, and the whoremonger, and the sorcerer, shall have their part in that lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death,’” Bashir said. “And from the Book of Mormon to Nephi, Chapter 2, Verse 34 we find this: ‘Woe unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell.’”

Medicare needs reform but picking a VP who wants to gut it isn't going to win you the senior vote.

I wouldn't count on that. There are a lot of very conservative voters in Florida, and Ryan can competently articulate his ideas.

As soon as they run the "Ryan wants to cut Medicare" ads all the seniors in Florid will be sure to come out and vote for Obama. There are conservative voters in FL but not enough to counter the fear of losing Medicare

The current crop of seniors is not going to lose Medicare; and the educated seniors know it, although I'm sure ads will suggest otherwise. The discussion is for the future, and there's no way the Medicare program can continue as is.

I think Romney-Ryan is supposed to remind people of Ronnie Reagan.

BTW, that racist-idiot poster has got to be one of the best examples of the "win them over by insulting them" strategy.

We know Romney can never represent America overseas and no pick could have changed that. But I am happy this will make it easy for Obama in November.
