Subject: Wolfgang as a middle name -- lay it on me, DCUMers!
Freddie could be a cute first name (Prinze, Jr.) but I think if you have a tough first name the middle should be easy, and if you want to use a difficult/heavy middle name the first should be easy. She's really skirting the edge here.

Nope, she's not from this area. In fact she doesn't currently live in the US although she is American. So I'm pretty safe there.
If she's going to raise the kid in a place where the name is popular, then Wolfgang might be a great choice, regardless of how little her stateside friends like it.

For what it's worth I dont like my childrens middle names. DH is Chinese so their middle names are their Chinese names that were picked out by my FIL. Not a big deal though because they will only be used in Chinese school and by my in-laws. On the flip side i do like that their middle names have some meaning, purpose and aren't just a random name that was second on my list.
Yeah, this is what I told her (in terms of dealing with all the negative reactions she's been getting). She probably has no idea how much I dislike it since I've been careful about what I've said. I do think it won't matter much in the day to day -- I hardly ever think about what my kids' middle names are and most people don't remember them, probably even family.

who cares? It's a middle name. Beyond the birth announcement you will probably never even hear it again.

Not staging an intervention -- just curious what other people think about it. I'm not currently pregnant so I don't have any baby names of my own to ask about! She has been wavering a little since getting all this negative feedback, so I thought it would be interesting to ask for people's anonymous opinions and see if others think it is as awful as I do.

I actually really like it but I have a very unusual name (in the us, very popular in northern europe) and have always seen it as a positive.

It seems silly to me that you care. It's just a middle name for a friend's baby. As long as it isn't Adolf, I wouldn't stage an intervention.
