My husband's my best friend. We like talking-to each other and seeing how the day's going.

We talk a lot. Dh had a secretary say something snide about it out of sheer jealousy (she's not very likable by most people). She was more of a troublemaker, very toxic in the workplace. He fired her.

We talk 2-3 times a day. We only email for information that has to be written down like other people's email addresses. Prefer the phone but maybe it's b/c we're old.

I enjoy sharing stuff with my husband. So we talk (more likely text). It doesn't interfere with work, which is the real litmus test, right? Same with the day care providers. If they are texting/chatting with their SO's while my kid is taking a nap, or during their own break, then great.

Wow, we talk all the time. In fact, we call each other just to see how the day is going. We also both have Google Chat and chat with each other. Today my husband sent me a picture of a hilarious doodle he drew during a meeting. It makes my day much brighter (unless I'm in a really pissed off stressful place, and then I'm a bear).

yes, us too. I call so rarely that if I do and he misses my call he will call back quick. Email or text is def the preferred method of communication in our family-and only if it is necessary

Similar here. We were married for 5 years pre-kids and probably talked 1/day. Now we have been married 11 years, have 2 kids, and both have moved up in our careers/responsibilities at work. So we probably only talk 1-2 times/week and maybe email 1/day. We never just check in or chat - it always has a purpose. I kind of miss the days when we used to call each other in the afternoon just to see how the day is going!

The timing of this post is interesting. When we were first dating we talked everyday. Now five years and one kid later we never talk at work. With the exception of today he called to let me know that day care called him bc our infant is sick.

On average twice a day, for 5 minutes. I'm a sahm and tend to update him on the LO, what she ate, where we went etc. He also calls to ask if I need him to stop for anything on the way home.

We really only talk on the phone if something needs to be coordinated, or if something's happened that the other needs to be aware of- so maybe 2-3x per week.
He'll usually email once a day just to check in and see how I'm doing. He almost always calls when he's done with work, not to chat but so I know when to expect him or to see if he needs to pick anything up.

pp here, I should mention that we do sometimes send each other fwds by email but those often don't get read until after the work day.
