Vegan =/= sugar free. Far from it - they have to compensate for the absence of all the things that make baked good delicious (butter, eggs, cream) with - wait for it - extra sugar.

I definitely don't plan on using an artificial sweetener, I don't even like that for myself! I think they taste gross, I read applesauce is much better.
I'm also not being super crazy and will do a low sugar frosting, I just don't want him to end up with a tummy ache from all the sugar.
