Ruth Chris is where the baggy jean set cowboys fans go for nice dinner.

OK, thanks. I will fly to Chicago for dinner instead.

Just don't go to Capital Grille and you will be fine!

One question, though: Do you like butter? If so, you'll be happy. If not, you probably won't be.

To the PP yapping about the middle class - was that supposed to be a slam? Because you are ... what... a princess? countess?

It's a joke. Everyone on here is middle class or upper middle class whether they want to admit it or not.

I made the first "middle" comment but I said middle America. By which I mean the middle of America geography wise. I usually end up going to steakhouses with people from the Midwest (for business lunches/ dinners). The exception is J&G Steakhouse, which really isn't a classic steakhouse at all. Ruth's Chris originated from New Orleans but first seem to have much New Orleans character.

I love some chains - Mon Ami Gabi, Houstons, hell, I even like Cracker Barrel in the right circumstances. But I don't like chains that overcharge and underdeliver.

Well, it's not the Applebee's sirloin, that's for sure, on which I'm confident you can still see the marks from where the jockey was hitting it.

I have no problem with chains, as long as the quality is decent, and you get what you pay for. RC offers neither. And $50 for bread woudl be insane - although I might pay it for the truffle rolls at Bourbon Steak, or the Parker House rolls at CityZen.

As for being an asshole lawter - guilty as charged.

That pretty much sums it up. Other than Morton's, I think it'd be my last choice in DC steakhouses. Like a PP, I like Bourbon, Capital Grille (although it's infested with tourists in the summer), Charlie Palmer's, and J&G, and think the Palm is WAY overrated.

Good food. Be wary of valet - I know two people who got their car scratched/lightly wrecked within the past few years using it.

All the steaks come with butter all over them. Yuck.
