I never open the door for anyone I don't know or aren't expecting.

Why people feel the compulsion to open the door to random strangers is beyond me.

I have decided not to answer the door when door to door salesman stop by anymore. I even thought about putting up a sign "No Soliciting". It's too easy for someone to pretend to be legitimate and then invade your home. Not worth it, IMO. Do I seem overly paranoid? I hate feeling so suspicious, but there was an attempted home invasion on our street last year and I don't think it's worth the risk.

Something similar happened to me recently but it was Direct Energy. They were very shady, telling me that BGE made a mistake and is charging people on my neighborhood too much for energy. They asked me to pull up my bill online and give them my account number so they could see if I was one of the ones affected by the overcharge. I fell for it for a few minutes then realized how shady they were being. To likewise waste their time I went along with it then did not follow their directions to answer "yes" to all of the independent verifier's questions.

A person from constellation called my personal phone number about an old business I had. Stating a new law passed for my local energy provider that raised the rates but they was authorized to lower it. My business was strictly online and I never ever had electric bill in my name or my business's I am going to report it now.

I live in NJ and received 2 knocks on the door about half hour from each other. first man identified himself as representative of our utility, JCP&L. he had badge on with CONSTELLATION. He asked if anyone's been around over the past 2 months to give refund on BPU's. I said I wasn't interested. he said thank you and left. I remembered hearing something on the radio about this and to local authorities to see if Constallation was authorized to be in area. Here's the second knock on the door...2 people (reel 'em in team, I guessing) this time. Lady presents herself as a supervisor of same company ( has badge like first guy) and wants to know if I was reimbursed of BPU's. I. told her I wasn't sure. she started flipping papers on clip board. I told her I want interested and I closed the door. I waited a few minutes and decided to call police, just to see if they are aware. police dispatched officer. found out these people need to get permit to solicate. if you think you have a bad feeling about it happening to you, just call police dept. good luck and please be cautious. if they don't have your information, they are NOT representatives of any utility.

Constellation Energy is owned by Exelon, who just bought out Pepco. Constellation just deals with secure rates(rates go up and down quite often) so they secure them for 24 months they even sent me a $75 visa card just for signing up. But as far as it being a scam, Pepco's chairman even sent out a letter stating that Pepco was being bought out by Exelon. To be large enough to buy out Pepco and even have a letter from Pepco's chairman, the proof is all there. I'd refer anyone to try Constellation, they offer a 90 day trial with no fee to cancel

Pepco bge and constellation are all seperate companies they were a monopoly at one time charged you more and more but constellations charges are set the dont go up like pepco bge they all came from the same company google it

Some people here have said that they can't take anyone's bill and switch it using info from it, and that, just think, you would have to have some kind of identifier to do that like a password, or the like. I called AEP who I pay the bill to, and they said that all they people need to switch you over to their service is the "Service Delivery Identifier: . . . " from your bill. Sooo, be careful and don't show anyone your energy bills!

Google "energy retailing". There are tons of companies out there doing this in states where energy is deregulated. Some offer a better product than others, depending on their own purchasing capabilities, but they all pretty much share the door to door selling tactic. You obviously got a very poorly trained salesman who was very sketchy in describing what he was selling.

Yeah I just had this happen to me from a Constellation rep and I'm only a college student and didn't know how to make him go away. I rent this place out so I was like I don't even think I cannnn switch. Then he precedes to try and come in my house to look at my bills and everything and I said no and tried to say my place was messy. I was already freaked out then he started telling me how attractive he thought I was and asking me if I lived by myself or had a man in my life or if I often have visitors and it really weirded me out. Not to sound like that kind of girl, I just didn't like the feeling I got from it.

This just happened to us in Baltimore. My 84 year old father let him in the house thinking there was some sort of problem with our gas and electric, and the man just refused to leave. Finally after asking him to leave 4 times, I had to threaten to call the police to get his rear-end out my front door.

It was a little bit frightening. Good job Constellation Energy.
