Just want to say good luck. We had to go private because of the unsatisfactory school our DS was in, but if we had the option of using my parents address, looking back I think I would have. Since we've changed schools I've come to find out that SO many families in our cluster fabricated COSAs in order to go to different schools. And here we were following the rules. What was really fun was finding out how many work, or have spouses, high up in the school system. Awesome job MCPS.

The was a newspaper article about this type of situation a year of so ago. The woman lived in the Midwest (I think) and used her father's address to get her children into a better school. At that time she was getting her master's degree to become a teacher. The false address claim was discovered and she was charged and prosecuted. I can't remember what the charge was, but it was sufficient to ensure that she can never teach. Find out what the consequences are in your jurisdiction. It isn't a harmless crime or a crime with no consequences.

Lying about an address within the county is not punishable by a fine. They will simply redirect you toward your home school.

Absolutely untrue in Fairfax County. My friend (my best friend so I know what I am talking about) was hit it thousands of dollars of fines/tuition--whatever you want to call it. She no longer lived in the jurisdiction and was required to pay for the time after she left. The told her if she wanted to continue and finish out the school year she would would be required to pay for the remainder of the year also.

duh

FROM the county

I know of several people from PG and AA who pay tuition to send their kids to MCPS. OUT OF COUNTY TUITION, which is about $13K

PP here--didn't read your followup. If the grandparents are the daycare, you can apply for COSA and choose hardship and state your case. The most important factor is likely numbers (is the receiving school already above capacity), but I also have several students who are at my school on transfer based on day care. Is it actually a legitimate reason in the eyes of MCPS.

Grandparents can submit a notarized letter stating that you live with them and how much rent you pay to them. I have students who are homeless or have temporary housing (renting a room from a relative, etc) and this is what is required to enroll them. Of course, in your case, grandparents would have to be willing to lie and notarize their lie, but that's your call.

You're such a stupid liar.

They will only make you return to your home school.

If its in the same jurisdiction i.e. Montgomery county school to another Montgomery county school there's no way you are being asked to pay tuition
