I think there is a miscommunication. The earlier pp was using the term "conservative" but probably did not mean the actual conservative branch of Judaism.

Fiction or not, so many Jews were killed in its name that it is taken very seriously. But I think it is highly unfair to speak of "the conservative jews" in this context as though one extremist were representative of a large mainstream group.
