One person's opinion aside (quote is not a prevailing thought), that does not make St. John's a "bad" school, does it?
The school's website is not as comprehensive as other privates in terms of data/information, but I have not heard many negative
opinions about the school.
This is hilarious. SJC is no longer easy to get into because of the sheer number of applications.

One of the brightest, most athletic, well-rounded, great kids from my DS' school turned down all the "big" privates (NCS, Visi, Maret, Sidwell) and chose SJC two years ago. She told her friends she wanted co-ed, a traditional highschool experience with a broad range of kids. From what I hear, she couldn't be happier. Again, there is a school for everyone. You need to look past the "name" and impressing yourself and choose what is best for your child.

I personally know of 3 girls from top privates (Girls schools) that are moving to SJC for highschool. 2 into Scholars program.

Very hard to get into St Johns Scholars program. I know many from our local parish school were crushed to get wait listed. College placement out of St Johns is fAntastic and rivals any of the "elite" privates. It's a great school, with great kids, that get into great colleges. What's wrong with that?

We applied to the Catholics last year and they were a beast. Maybe in the past Gonzaga, St. John's and Dematha were shoo ins, but this year it was tough.
Also, remember, you can only apply to two. That sucked too. You can only apply to a third if you don't get into the 2. We hired a tutor for the HSPT. Everyone said, oh, it's so easy. My son didn't think so.

We are looking for HS next year. I was quite impressed with the "new" St. John's (my brother is an alum)
They told us they will be accepting a smaller class this year than last (last year was big to replace a larger graduating class) They have launched a great iPad teaching program in a few classes that will be expanding. That is getting lots of interest from people I've talked to. It still has much more diversity (ethnicity wise as well as financial and educational) than other schools but yes, that Scholar's Program is attracting some strong students.
