I'd never take my kids to a pool where women and men are walking around naked. Going to the pool is a family event- not a swingers retreat.
Now you can save all that "don't be ashamed of your body...you are so uptight...puritan...Americans are so blah blah blah" for your naked sister circle. I don't want to hear it. You aren't changing my mind so save it for your fellow naked wanderers.

I think it's fine, and we are a naked family - my kids see my parts, I see theirs, they see DH's. My family was the same way until I was 8 or 9 and then my dad started being more discreet. My kids stare, I say 'yup - I have boobies and you don't'; they ask where my wee-wee is (my kids are boys) and I tell them that girls don't have them; and we move on. They are 2 and 4 and to be honest I'll feel perfectly comfortable showering with them, being nude around them, etc. until they are much older.
Some people are so uptight about nudity. But you know what? That's THEIR problem, not yours. Especially in a LOCKER/CHANGING/SHOWER ROOM! Dear god! So PP with the nudity complex? Maybe you should just stay home in your happy little bubble, and get your OWN pool.
So if you had girls, would you be okay with a man saying "yes, I have a penis (waves naked penis around) and you don't." Would you be comfortable with a naked male family member showering with your daughter? Would you be okay if your neighbor told you that her DH takes showers with their 4 year old daughter? If yes, then at least you are consistent.

Anonymous wrote:I think 5 is way too young to be going into, even walking through, a locker room alone. Honestly, I think my kid would have to be 7-8 for me to be ok with that. You can't control what they see or hear if you aren't there. Teach your kids not to stare, its fine.

Isn't the point of a locker room to change? How do you change without taking your clothes off?

I have him walk through the men's room to come and go to the pool, but when he has to go to the bathroom, he needs my help with his wet bathing suit. So I take him into the women's room. The pool has a policy that children over 6 must use the gender appropriate bathroom, so my child is technically OK going into the women's room. However, there are many unclothed women and girls in there and he gawks at them, as much as I tell him to look straight ahead, do your business, and let's get out.
I don't want to make the other women uncomfortable. I have no idea if they are uncomfortable or not. Most are Asian and Russian immigrants and have I have no idea if cultural norms are different or not.
Should I help him practice with his swim suit so he can go to the bathroom by himself in the men's room? Am I making too big a deal of this?
Are you the poster who thinks that women who wear bikinis are also whores?
Shoot! Not meant for you OP...it was for the poster calling people changing and getting nakes disgraceful.
