Again, I will point you to Eastern High School and go straight to the source. I can assure you that our Principal will provide you with ALL the legitimate information you'll need. Now, unless you're part of the contingent who's secretly part of the "going along, to get along" conglomerate that's risen to popularity.
You know that group who will secretly say "I love Eastern and all their accomplishments" and then under handidly go about throwing'em under the bus, each and every time you get. I told you Rhee warned us about you before, she was under-handily disregarded.

Any takers? Drop off your donations to the school, it will be greatly appreciated. And for those who want to put Eastern down at least you can come and help put up the poster. Sweat equity is a valuable tool too.

I've read this sentence five times and I still have no idea what it means. Does anyone speak "crack-baby"? and if so, would you please translate what this crazy woman is trying to say? She's obviously passionate about her point, she's just unfortunately incomprehensible.

Whoop de doo!!! For the reader who couldn't see that a poster wanted to denounce Eastern's accomplishment, needs a life.
Competition brings customers and if being awarded second place for improving reading for students is a problem. Then you're the type of customer that I wish would keep on moving.
It is amazing when a school is labeled as being the worst; it was destined poor Eastern. Here it is Eastern, improving without the influx of white parents and now its not worthy. Tell me, what sock-puppet wouldn't take offense to some bullshit like this new found division. See, I didn't say racism. I will use the race card for future posting.[/q
You are reading these posts with a huge chip on your shoulder and it is making you nuts. People are sincerely glad that Eastern is making progress with its remedial reading program. That is super news and means a better future for those students. It means something is going right after a lot of things going wrong.
At the same time, understand that news like this doesnt inspire families who have kids who did get a proper elementary/middle education to want to sign up immediately. When Eastern can start listing its college admissions and it looks great, you will see some enthusiasm among these families. In the meantime, why is it so threatening that these families want a school where there will be appropriate levels of challenge and a sizeable peer group of kids at a similar level of academic acheivement. Do you really believe that means everyonebelse will be left behind? Or could it possibly mean a mire robust and wealthy and healthy school system overall that would serve all kids better, especially before they get to high school.

They had the second highest percentage of Read 180 students meeting the ambitious goal of two years' growth in reading in one year, of all DCPS high schools. This is typically a harder target for HS than MS. This Eastern's first year with the Read 180 program -- and schools usually improve over time. Also let's give a shout-out to Ms. Jarrard, who taught all of the those classes.
For those wondering who recieved first place honors it was Columbia Heights Educational Center.
I don't know what that means. Does it matter in any significant way? Would a college admissions officer (as opposed to a local ANC Rep) actually give a damn?
How many of them scored as semi-finalists in the NMSQT?
I want to be optimistic, but I think I need someone to explain to me the "value" of a DCPS "award" because it looks more like a bone than an effective program.

She really livens up a thread though.
