He's caused you pain. Don't sweep it under the rug just to try to make things seem normal. You've got to go through the process -- denial, anger, grief, resentment, hatred, before you come out on the other side.

At the very least, he needs to stop drinking completely.

Take a look at surviving infidelity website.

Get tested for stds at the minimum. You owe it to yourself and any children (potential or current).

Check text messages, email, browsing history.

OP here. Let's move beyond whether he had an affair or not. I do not believe he did anything more than make out with a random stripper. He's never shown any signs of cheating before so I do think this is a one time thing. It's an incredibly stupid thong and I am not dimishing that. It's still cheating. He admits that there was making out involved with the stripper and he and his friends were buying her drinks. I do believe that he blacked out as he does do this when he drinks a lot. Another indication that he needs to stop drinking.

Now I wonder what to do next. I will give him the benefit of the doubt when he says he wants to be a better man and husband and doesn't want this to happen again. He is a good guy but he did an incredibly stupid thing and I just need to figure out how to move beyond it. How not to look at him and imagine him making out with another woman. How to look at happy families and feel resentment at my husband because i have to fake being happy and trusting with him out in public because of his complete stupidity.

how you move beybd this? he gets tested for STD, not just once, but now and in a while, in the meantime, if you sleep with him, big condom. cancel that friend from the list of friends, he is either lying to cover your husband, or an accomplice in an idiotic behavior. husband joins AA or other type of counseling (being apologetic and promising to quit is not enough) to stop drinking. I mean, a married adult who drinks to the point of passing out several times needs help. find new, more healthy friends

Contact the friend. Ask him. He'll probably lie. Tell you're husband you're taking him to the bar so you can ask the stripper.

Your husband hooked up with someone. He cheated. This was not a stripper. Your husband did not "blackout" and forget this happened. Wake up OP.
