I agree. This is a duh moment. He has been out for years. Well at least since the time he discussed it on Oprah many moons ago when he also talked about his brother's suicide. How is this new news. And more importantly, why does it matter to people if he wants to keep his love and sex life his business and not the world's business. I wonder if OP and other posters feel the need to tell people who they prefer sleeping with.

there is no shock on my end that hes gay.

It might be old news, but take the time to actually read his statement. I think it strikes a nice tone and gives a good explanation for why he has not acknowledged this publicly before and why he decided to do so now in a low-key way.

i didnt post this as some earth shattering news cause everybody already concluded he was gay. it is more that he finally admits it.

and its good to see that people coming out isnt front page news which probably shows how far we have come with gays and coming out.

I wonder if Don Lemon (other CNN anchor) coming out first influenced him. Seemed like the obvious thing to do once Lemon came out.

No - what will finally be good is when it doesn't even matter. I don't care who he, or you sleep with. Gay? Straight? Bi? Single? Who cares.
