This statement in BOLD above must be different from school to school. That was not the case in our MCPS ES school. All students in grades 3-5 took it 3 times.
Same. My DS works above grade level and took it three times this year. He also took it last year in second grade.
Really? What school? I teach for MCPS and I've never heard of kids younger than 3rd grade taking this particular test. If I'm recalling correctly, event the letter that went home this week specifies that the test is taken in 3rd - 5th grades. Does anyone have this letter handy? Does the letter specify certain grades? Just curious...
Because all of you keep saying third grade, I looked through my file when I was cleaning out backpacks this evening. I have my son's MAP-R reports from second grade. I specifically remembered it because I have a MS kid who struggles with reading and we were shocked when our second grader scored higher than our MSer last year.
That's odd. I don't understand why it would be used in 2nd grade at some schools, but not all. I know MClass data is used for 2nd grade, but I have never heard of any school in the county using MAP-R for 2nd grade. What school(s) have had 2nd grade kids take the MAP-R?
