If you want to maximize time at your destination, I'd stick to the East Coast. Along with some of the posts already mentioned (Montreal, NYC would get my vote), I'd also consider Savannah, GA, which is beautiful, close to beaches, and laid back.

Yes we did this for our 20th wedding anniversary (sans kids). Heavenly, and a short plane ride!
Bermuda sounds lovely. We have both never been. That short direct plane ride is really enticing!

How about Puerto Rico? Did a 4 day trip there in February and it was fantastic. Quick nonstop flight, and no passport / customs hassles, but still get that Carribean vibe. We stayed in the Condado section of San Juan in a great suite hotel right on the beach (very Miami vibe to the hotel), got out to old San Juan for some culture / visit the fort / good food, spent time lounging/reading either poolside or at the beach, took a great day hike in El Yunque National Forest one day and an evening kayak trip to a bioluminescent bay another. Basically had an absolutely fantastic time, and I would go back in a heartbeat. (I'm not a huge Caribbean person, but have also been to Aruba and Turks & Caicos, and much preferred Puerto Rico since I really do like to have the culture / alternative outdoor activities.)
Our other post-kids solo trip was 5 days in Montreal and we had a wonderful time - lots to see and fantastic restaurants. But you don't have the beach aspect.
Have also been to Vancouver and it's also a great city to visit, though not really beachy (at least not of the warm, sit on the sand / go for a swim variety, which is what I think of when someone says 'beach'). And with a west coast city you're really looking at equivalent travel times to much of western Europe. Which is fine of course, I just know I can forget how long it takes to get across the continent!
And really the best location is going to depend on exactly when you want to go, since everywhere really does have those ideal weather windows.
But wherever you go, have fun! We've finally been able to fit some travel back into our lives and it makes me so happy.

We have gone to Vegas for that short of time period and even that I think was too much travel time.
My vote is Miami. Stay somewhere nice and luxurious (if you can afford it, but if you are talking Europe just based on airplane tickets, I think you probably case) - like the W Hotel. HEAVEN.
OP here. I'm from NYC and go back on average once a month to visit friends and family. I've been to Miami and Vegas many times when I was in my 20's. I actually just got back from a 3 day bachelorette party in Vegas. When I was in college and grad school, I'd often do long weekend getaways to Europe.
I almost forget what that feels like since we've basically been doing Disney, Sesame Place type vacations for the past few years.
I am looking for someplace romantic. Ideally I'd like both a beach and culture. DH threw out Monaco. I'm interested in the French Riviera but with layovers, we would lose 2 days on travel alone. We have both been to Europe several times but only once together (Italy). We have both spent very little time in Canada. Am researching Vancouver.

15:44 again. We've done Bermuda a few times. The flight is only about 2 hours so it's perfect for short 4-5 day trips. Just remember that the temperatures are similar to the temps in South Carolina, so it's not warm year round.
OH, okay, thank you so much! We are considering it for perhaps next May or June or so, so I think that could be good timing for good temps in Bermuda. Yes! I am getting excited now! Thank you for your reply!
We did Bermuda in early June a few years ago and the weather was good. A day or two it was a bit hot for walking around, but for the beach/pool, it was great. We stayed at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess which is not on the beach, but is in the town of Hamilton (shopping and restaurants) and has two pools (fresh and salt water). You can also take a boat from the Hamilton Princess to the Fairmont Southampton which is on the beach.

So the places that come to mind are:
1. Arcadia Nat'l Park up in Maine (is that what it's called?)
2. Nappa or Sonoma in California
3. New Orleans, LA <--- FOOOOOOOD! (And music!)
4. Santa Fe, New Mexico <--- go to Ten Thousand Waves for the evening after a good hike
5. Montreal, QE, Canada <--- has everything and is sort of French
Acadia, no R, since you asked. And, Napa, one P, even though you didn't.
Santa Fe and Montreal are both great places to visit for 4-5 days. I'd personally go to NYC since I love it there and haven't been back for a visit since pre-baby times.
