She probably disliked being SAHM with older kids who were outside of the home all day. Thus, she turned to being a nanny/SAHM for another family.

I was a nanny in a similar situation. I loved kids and was no where near ready to start my own family, so nannying was perfect. I gave 3 months notice when I was going to quit and helped them find a new nanny. Chances are your nanny jus enjoys being a nanny. People who tend to quit suddenly are ones who need money and find a higher paying opportunity.

Sorry you're dealing with this, OP. Your husband's really insecure and irrational. I hope he calms down soon and doesn't take his insecurity out on the nanny.

Ask your husband if he considers someone's spouse's salary when he's hiring at his office. I don't think that's legal, but if it is, it certainly is unprofessional. You hire the person who is the best for the position and her family life is her business, not your husband's.

The job gives her autonomy, and cash in her pocket she doesn't have to explain. Everyone's marriage is at least partially a secret. She clearly has her reasons.

If she's a good nanny, then don't worry about it. You will be spares a whole lot of trouble if you know you can trust your nany's home and car.

Op here: Husbands published salary is over 500k (before bonus). I am sort of friends with one of her previous employers and I decided to call her about the discovery. She laughed and said they found out in a similar sort of way. Her take is that he works almost 70 hours a week and now that her children are older, the nanny likes having a job to keep her busy. Makes sense to me! And for what it's worth I find her career choice very honorable.

because you are a servant. it's not just about working with children - it's about taking orders of people who, in this case, are supposedly 10 layers of status below you. so, in the evening you go to some white tie event with the president and the next morning you are driving traffic the suburbs from your $5 million georgetown house because some 100K making family's dog went missing so they need you to show up early. it's just too much for me to believe - i think some important info here is missing. to top it all - the OP's english also sounds very bad, like from someone with a HS diploma. nothing wrong with that, but just adds to the implausibility of it all.

Being a nanny is a career for some people. They love children but may not like being confined to the school system or classroom. They may love babysitting. People enjoy different things, there are career janitors and people who are in the trash collection field because they love it.

actually, all of the nannies we have hired were quite hot. I am young myself, so it isn't as much of a thread to me. So yes, I would give the same advice.

Op here: thanks for the insight, I agree that someone who works despite a large HHI probably loves her job. She defiantly works as if she loves it. To the pp who suggested she was lying, I highly doubt it. The last name, while not completely unheard of, is on the rare side, plus I just don't think she is the type to lie. Plus she is married to him on Facebook!
