And the "mega" class will have two teachers so basically 1 teacher, plus aide per 20 kids.

Kingergarten has 22-23 kids per class. Next year they are planning five kindergarten classes for 100 kids. So 20 kids 2 teachers.

Kindergarten gets three recesses a day, music, science, and art.

Murch has 16-18 kids per K class this year!

FWIW, if we lived in Janney district, we would be there.

OK, based on the FWIW clause, I think we should welcome this Mom into the fold. But how do you feel about toe shoes, dear?

Um, we have 23 kids in our K class at Janney. Not 28.

And, I'm not sure I'd pay 30K a year for more "scheduled outdoor time." I'll take the extra instruction and let my kids play outside afterschool. For free.

Do they have longer school days at "your" private?

Really not true, but go ahead and convince yourself of that while I save $2500/month.

Janney has 28 kids/K class. Our private has 19. Last I knew, 28 > 19. And that's with 2 lead teachers, not 1 lead teacher and an aide.

Janney has PE 1x/week, right? How many scheduled hours of outdoor play do Ks at Janney have?

I'm not knocking the value of Janney, but what you're suggesting about the JKLMM schools having the same size classes and equal amounts of PE/outdoor play are simply not true. I say this as a parent who toured both public and private schools, with friends who have children at the JKLMM schools, but who ultimately chose private. Is it worth $28K/year? Maybe not. But that is a different question than that of class size and developmentally appropriate amounts of outdoor gross motor activity.

Is this a running gag?

Obviously. Even (especially) Mann parents are embarrassed by it.

No, it isn't the best. But it is first in the acronym.

Jeff, why not buy yourself a pair? Then, next time you go to such a party, some moms will assume you are Toe Shoe Dad?

Recently I was at a party which many parents from Janney attended. For the first time in my life, I paid attention to the other guys' shoes. Sadly, no toe shoes.
