Thanks to all of the wonderful suggestions here, I've called several out-of-town doctors' offices to find out what is involved with getting a second opinion, and it sounds like one big decision I'll have to make is whether to go in-person for the meeting with the doctor (and in the process, maybe have some testing done and if I go in person, the visit will be reimbursed by insurance) or to save the time and stress of travel and do the consultation by phone (but if I do this, I wouldn't be able to have the testing done and the cost of the visit will be totally out-of-pocket).

I was wondering whether those who got a second opinion in person thought they had a much better meeting *because* they went in person, and whether those who got a second opinion by phone felt that they might have had a better meeting if they were able to go in person. In my work-life as a lawyer, I do most of my meetings by phone and don't think it really diminishes the quality of the interaction, but maybe a meeting with a doctor that one has never met before is different.

Finally, I was wondering whether anyone sought more than one consultation, and if so, if that was fruitful or just confusing (e.g., if you got vastly different points of view from different docs).

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Where did you hear that? I am a CCRM patient and did several cycles there. They charge for consults.

I think the lab made a huge difference...cycle 1 I had a day 6 blast, second cycle I had 2 day five blasts...at ccrm I had 6 blasts total. Also I feel that maybe a frozen transfer worked better for me, I had all the signs of hyper stimulating here and they still did the transfer. They stimmed me much more slowly and aggressively at ccrm also, but I think the lab is the main factor.

Congratulations! That's wonderful, and inspiring. Did they make some meaningful changes relative to the protocols you had done locally? And may I ask which doctor you consulted with?

I consulted at IVFNJ. Dr Susan Treiser and RBA Dr Shapiro. They were both heads of dept/co-founders.
