Another poster here who thinks this thread is a bit paranoid. Stranger danger is just so rare. Beware the uncle, boyfriend, stepdather, teacher, neighbor, coach, and priest. The real danger is generally known to you.
As for GPS and home address, they can and always have been able to grab your registration.

It's really more to do with not making yourself or your DC convenient targets. I don't think the GPS thing is "crazy ass", to me it makes sense but to each his (or her) own.

No kidding, that is way too much info. Agree, some people are clueless like the school stickers that have the sport, kids name and class on them. Now the whole world knows "Evan" plays soccer for Whatever Middle School and he will graduate in 2013 so he is around 12 years old. Wow...

Last year I was sitting in traffic and the car in front of me had writing all over the windows "Girl Scout Cookies for sale. Call xxx-xxxx." There was also a school sticker on the back.
Are people really that clueless to pretty much say I have a daughter, she goes to school here and this is my phone number.

It is a shame that our society is such that this is a problem but the reality is, this is unsafe behavior. Imagine how trusting a child would be if a stranger that knew the names of their siblings, their name, their sports team, school, etc. struck up a conversation. It is scary and I'm not an easily alarmed person. Putting your kids names on the car is really naive. I don't put their names on their clothes either.

A parent in my daughter's class has the school sticker on her car along with 3 little hands with her kid's names printed on them and a bethany beach sticker. This made me think of her as that is just way more than any stranger needs to know.

I completely agree with you OP. I even said as much on the other thread regarding this topic. It's beyond creepy. No way do I want someone else knowing my family makeup and their actual names (yes, I've seen this on one car). I never really thought about the school stickers but it's along the same line. I'm not a car-sticker person anyway, so likely I wouldn't have that on my car, but thank you for bringing it up from a reliable source (police).
