Black Saga Club
A state-wide competition that tests students' knowledge of the African American experience as part of American history. Meets Wednesdays and Thursdays.

DRAMA CLUB, Spring Play and Talent Show
Tryouts are held and rehearsals are after school as announced. Each year the drama club produces a play or musical with two evening performances. Open to all interested students. Drama Club meets on Thursdays.
Auditions for the Talent Show will be on Thursdays in October. (The Talent Show will be in November.)
Auditions for the Spring Play will be in December and practices will be on Thursdays in January, February, and March. (The Spring Play is in April.)

EXTENDED LEARNING OPPORTUNITY (ELO) - READING
This class will meet twice a week - Tuesdays and Thursdays. More information on this club will be announced.

FRENCH CLUB
Students in this club will meet for French conversation, peer tutoring, research on Francophone cultures and some creative writing in French. We also welcome your involvement in promoting National French Heritage.

GREEN SCHOOL CLUB
Do you know or want to know more about energy and the environment? Well, join the Green School Club and become a member of the ENERGY TEAM. The team members are Julius West students, parents and several teachers. The team will conduct energy audits of classrooms, check lights and computer monitors to make sure we are not wasting energy. The team will also make posters and install light switch covers with energy tips in all classrooms. We hope to attract kids that are interested in making a difference in the energy consumption at our school. Bring your enthusiasm, questions and ideas to our meeting! This club meets on Wednesdays.

INTRAMURALS
This after school program is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade eligible students. Some activities offered will be basketball, lacrosse, weight lifting, softball, soccer, and STEP. Also offered are the Basketball Shoot-Out and Track Challenge regional competitions.

JAZZ BAND
Auditions are required for membership. Jazz Band performs after school and at community concerts. Weekly rehearsals will be held Wednesdays.

KNITTING CLUBIs open to all students, boys and girls, who would like to try knitting. Students will learn the fundamental skills of casting on, knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing. They will acquire the skills to complete beginner projects, and the foundation to learn more complicated knitting. Club will meet Wednesdays.

NEWSPAPERMeets after school on Wednesdays for the purpose of writing, interviewing, editing and generally organizing the Paw Print, which we plan to publish monthly.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA)Officers and delegates are elected during the fall. Meetings are held during the school year. SGA sponsors school-wide events and activities. Several school dances are held each year.
