I'm a little surprised at the vitriol as well. There's likewise no shame in the original poster reaching out to an online community to find out the answer to this question. Getting questions answered (and answering them as you are able) is what a lot of people come here to do. As for making poor decisions; hardly. Though I've met a fair number of of stupid executives in my time, overall, they are probably making good life decisions if they can afford to live over there. Quit hating.

Seriously, must we have this kind of comment? We live in Potomac and would never think of not using a school bus.
Clearly then you make under $200K/year.
Actually, no. Doesn't mean we avoid the bus though.

I see negligent parenting here. Either this mother has too many kids or she just does not care.
Okay, seriously? My kid is on the Whitman bus every day too but that does not make me a good or bad parent. Who is parking in the BCC parking lot if not students. Every MC high school seems to have a large parking lot with student parking. It is not a crime for licensed kid to drive to school. And some kids need to drive to after school jobs or internships so there are legitimate reasons why a kid may need to drive to school. Yes it's a little odd that the OPs daughter doesn't know the parking rules or can't ask one of her driving friends, but that does not make the OP a bad parent.
+1 I really wonder if people would be so harshly critical if OP lived in a less affluent school cluster and said her daughter needed to drive.
