What about dual citizenship. Foreign passport=Married name, American Passport=Maiden name. Which name should I use to book my ticket. I have to travel out with my foreign passport (so I will not need a visa). And travel back to the US with my American passport (to avoid getting a visa). So which name should I book the ticket with

I did this several times as it took my several years to get off my lazy a$$ and change all my documentation.
Just book the ticket in your maiden name, the one in your passport. It would be helpful, but not required, if your license or other ID was also in your maiden name. But like PP's have said... you have your passport, that is plenty. If they ask, you left your license at home.

We just dealt we this when we travelled to the Bahamas in early April. My passport is in my maiden name, but I still have my license and my new license with my married name. Booked the flight with married name, and when leaving the country, my passport processed with my maiden and that was that.

I've totally traveled with my passport in my maiden name. It's been a few years, but I just booked my travel in my maiden name.

I just booked a trip to Paris from the USA and I booked it with my "new"" name. BIG mistake. My Paraguayan passport has my maiden name, and unless I do it in my country, I can't change.
We had insurance, so they would refund the trip in we cancelled.
But it is our honeymoon and we would not want to cancel that!

Thank God Expedia and the airline accepted to do the change.
Lesson learned: PASSPORT NAME MUST MATCH BOARDING PASS NAME! Passport name MUST match your ticket!

Just make sure your papers match. And make a copy of your passport in case you lose it. You don't won't to have to explain why you traveled under a name that isn't yours any longer (that is if you changed it when you got married).

What about driving to Canada? My husband and I are planning to go to Niagra Falls for our anniversary trip in July. My passport is still in my maiden name and is good until 2018. Should I go ahead and renew it under my new name or just go with the one I have?

Agree matching tickets/passport plus marriage license is fine, unless you plan to use a credit card which is in another name? Are you staying in a hotel? They would probably want matching names on passport and CC- and, in some countries, hotels don't like to let unmarried couples stay together.

As long as your passport name matches the name on your ticket, you're fine. I did this on a trip to Canada last year, no problems at all.

Why would an airline ever check your drivers license if you are using your passport as id?

I have not officially changed my name on any documents, yet. I planned to do this later this month. HOwever, I already booked an international flight with my maiden name (since it was on my credit card) and have yet to change my passport either. So, my ticket and my passport match. If I do go about changing my driver's license, etc. to my ne last name, will the airlines need that if my passport is used?

Always book your ticket in the name in the passport. You should be fine. carry a copy of your marriage certificate with you if you are worried.

Drivers license is my married name..FYI not everyone has a driver's license. The bigger issue is if you book under married name and then try to have your ticker switched back to maiden name when you realize you didn't change passport (this was me..Bahamas vacationer)..I had to go to airport and show my marriage incense a day befor my flight as I didn't want to pay a travel expediter 300 dollars to fix my passport. Again..came into Bahamas with no problems. Enjoy!!

You better look that up. I've read recently that they are cracking down on differences between ticket name, license, and passport. I don't remember the details, so look it up on an official govt. site.
