I also once had a Bethesda mom ask me in shock if there were really parks in Silver Spring suitable for kids to actually play in.

I don't know what they think is going on over here

Do you think they were that stupid or was it just a veiled put-down? The line between ignorance and malice can be a fine one.

Imagine what it's like for us who liven Prince George's County. I invited some friends with kids from Montgomery County to visit once and they couldn't believe how normal it looked when they got here -- kepis saying "I had no idea you guys had nice parks and playgrounds...." and other suburban amenities.

23:51 here again

And one more thing "W" parent - I'm originally from SS, but now I live in an "M" town with an "M" school - it's called McLean. You can have your posh, snotty pinpoint area within MoCo all to yourself. Maybe you can make it into an island. hehe

Poolesville would be the kid with a raincoat pulled up over his ears whispering, "don't tell anyone else about our school. Its great going to school in a small town and we want to keep it that way"

Quince Orchard would be the smart, well-rounded preppy guy with a football under his arm.

Hmm ... Googled Churchill and came up with this http://potomac.patch.com/articles/cabin-john-petition. In the school in the story it seems like they are trying to establish a private public schools with courses easy enough for their kids to do well.

Of course they are. Take a look at Whitman, etc.

Ha, I love it. I'm in SS too and sometimes I wish we did have our own county over here. Montgomery County Without All the Alpha Parents.

Agreed. I've come close to moving further west several times and keep realizing how great it is over here!
