I recently left the SEC. There's a reason why in the last 5 years it's dropped from being the 3rd best place in government to work to one of the worst http://www.bestplacestowork.org/BPTW/rankings/detail/SE00 . It's also seen as the least innovative government agency to work in http://www.fedsmith.com/2012/07/23/where-most-innovative-places-work-government/ . I'm sure there are pockets in the agency where this doesn't hold true but from the surveys, it's a pervasive feeling. That's one of the reasons the union is so strong there. Best wishes.

No. I haven't seen any postings for external candidates for the Trial Unit.

I've given up hope, over 6 weeks since my interview and haven't heard anything yet. The lady listed as the HR contact for the listing hasn't responded to my email or returned my phone call...At this point I will just assume I didn't get it.

I am awaiting a decision too. I was told they wanted to bring everyone "aboard" before Sept 30. To clarify, I assume "aboard" meant sitting in the seat and it does not refer to a tentative offer that can be retracted due to budgetary constraints. Since we're so close to fiscal year end, I figure everything is on hold til Oct. or after the election. Any thoughts from the peanut gallary on whether or not this is true?

HR is so bad at the SEC that it doesn't matter what time of year it is, there's a huge backlog.

I was the PP who got the offer in a week. It was not the formal offer from HR. I got a call from the head of the hiring committee with the offer. It took another MONTH before I heard from HR with the details.

A friend of mine at VA says that lots of offices are trying to get hires before 9/30, and as a result there are huge backlogs in HR. So it's possible that processes that normally take 2 weeks now take 3-4.

I got a call with an offer from Enforcement one week after my final interview.

Any experts out there that can address these questions?

Anyone here applied for a Quantitative Research Analysts (Financial Engineer)? Any insights for the interview or the recruiting process? I applied for the position in New York regional office.

I am in the same boat. I interviewed at a regional office 3 weeks ago and haven't heard a single thing back. Do they at least call you to let you know that you didn't get the position? I know it's a government position so there will be some beauracracy involved but should I assume I didn't get it since i haven't heard anything back after 3 weeks? Thanks for any info you guys are willing to provide.
