I've wondered about that, too. My first thought, is that the enrollment contract may have a statement in it that holds the school harmless in such matters. Otherwise, Beauvoir has already been sued and settled with a confidentiality clause. I wish I had a copy of my contract handy right now.
The child would be the plaintiff, and even a parent cannot sign away their claim on an act that has not yet occurred. No, I do not believe there was any litigation. Not to defend Beauvoir, but the guy was a pro. He had already resigned from Beauvoir and was hired and going to teach at Potomac. He is a dog and a psycho, but was clearly a master manipulator not just of children, but their parents as well. Truly an evil man.
What gives me some peace, and I have a son he taught, is its now near certain that he will be caught. Sexual abuse of children is frowned on greatly by both prison guards, and prisoners. He will likely be raped on a regular basis for the very long term in prison he will get, and the guards will be on smoke breaks every time it happens.
Hey Eric, you read this site. Turn yourself in and do 20, instead of the 40 you will get staying on the lamb. Get a prison where you will be safe as a condition of turning yourself in. You are screwed any which way. You did wrong. Admit it, do your time, and get help, with some prospect of being free in time and while you will still have 20 or 30 years to live in peace. You are not now free, nor will you ever be when they catch you. You should turn yourself in, let the system work, and serve the time you owe. And then spend your 50's and 60's making some amends as best you can.

Anonymous wrote:Once again the public mention of Eric Toth brings out those with personal grudges against Beauvoir(correct spelling) and its Head of School. Led by x.x., they slander the school and its leadership for acting immediately upon finding the compromising material, for removing him immediately from contact with students, for immediately notifiying the Cathedral police and the DC Police, for having him escorted from the campus, for contacting all parents in his classes personally, for promptly notifying the school community and for hosting open parent forums, including past parents. Their cooperation with the DC Police and the FBI gave those agencies ample time to take action against Eric Toth who did not immediately remove himself from the DC region.
Speculation on a matter of such sensitivity to individual children and families does little good except to satisfy the tastes of the salacious and malicious and does harm to a school community which worked hard and collaboratively to address this and other tragedies which befell it. Sadly, there are individuals who do harm to others. We are all possible prey to their evil intentions. However, when we are deceived by them, as a school or as a parent, we need to work on recovery. Unfortunately, there are clearly individuals on this and similar threads who have not overcome their own sense of grief and even their sense of guilt for having been deceived. It is unfortunate that this site continues to tolerate their deliberately false speculations and attacks.

Anonymous wrote:I agree, why now. Most on the list -- the FBI calls them Top Tenners -- have committed murder or crimes involving millions upon millions of dollars. They say he may be suicidal.
