8 pm on a Friday night and I'm still at work because I'm so unproductive during the day -- but have piles of stuff that need to be wrapped up before I go out on maternity leave in about 4 weeks. I'm crying right now because I don't know how I'm going to finish everything. Way too tired.

I agree, the whole "not coming back" part makes your enthusiasm for trying kind of go down the drain... hehe.

NP. I can completely relate to this feeling. I'm a new mom that doesn't have baby here yet, but the idea of "leaning in" just makes me want to check out professionally. I give 100% at work and love what I do, but I believe sometimes priorities need to adjust for seasons, and this is a case where it is acceptable. On top of that, I am in a graduate program so will likely be taking a leave of absence from that too.

It took so long for baby to come, and now that it is getting close, I just want to cherish the time and give my 100% to her. At least until she is a little bit older!

Not that people can't do both or more (work, school and parent), but why does it have to carry such a professional stigma? I wish corporate america were more family friendly in general, like other countries are when it comes to maternity leave and starting a family.

I feel like you have to prove people that you aren't lazy when you are pregnant. When really - you ARE feeling lazy, tired, sore, and irritated -- but it's only because you are pregnant and doing work all the time in making another life!!! I know we CAN do both, but not sure that we always SHOULD do both.

Sigh.

I felt the same way, especially for the whole first trimester. I'm at 15 weeks now (and just getting energy back) but was recently put on probation at work with 60 days to shape up or be terminated.

Everyone knows I'm pregnant (and have for weeks). I've been at my job for over a year. I don't know that I have it in meet their expectations. My 110% now is still only 90% of what I could give.

It's a bad situation. Don't get here.

I feel the same way too! Except I'm on my second pregnancy. Just want to focus on my family and sick of all the work drama.

This is like 9 months old thread but I found it while googling.
My thoughts exactly. I was the most sincere worker/manager for 12 yrs even delayed my home life now I don't care. I am 12 weeks along with my first. I just end up looking at pregnancy and baby stuff.
First I felt guilty now i don't
Waited so long with losses.
I still get my work done but I don't go anywhere above and beyond like I used to.

I'm 8 weeks along and feeling miserable so the way I figure it, just getting to work is good enough. With my first, I was much sicker and took more time off but this time, I get more peace and quiet at work (nanny watches DD at our home). If I can just skate by for the next few weeks, I am hoping I can be more focused in the 2nd trimester.

me too. 34 weeks and so unmotivated to work. this happened with my first pregnancy but a little later in the game.

funny - a friend of mine is getting married and said she is going through the same senioritis pre-wedding and honeymoon.

OP here. I am so grateful to you all for your support--I was seriously thinking there is something wrong with me. I'm being so hard on myself about it too--that I'm doing a bad job for my clients, blah blah blah.

33 weeks and it seems to get a little worse every day!
