Actually, I love it when they call me mom. I dealt with infertility for 5 years and now am lucky enough to have a 2 1/2 year old. Even after 2 1/2 years of having a child, I still love it when someone refers to me as mom because I still cannot believe I am a mom. So, no, it doesn't bother me at all. Just the opposite! :o)

I wouldn't even notice, much less work up the energy to get offended by it.

It sounds weird and patronizing to me, too... but I remind myself that they don't mean any harm and let them get on with the business of helping my child.

My kid has had some scary health problems-- so this "Mom" thing is the least of my problems!

I hate it. It's weird and patronizing. And when it's used, it's always when I'm being spoken to like I'm sort of half wit.

I care far less about my pediatrician doing it than my friggin' vet doing it. THAT bothered me.

I don't really like it. I'd rather be called by my name, even if they get it wrong. Still, in the grand scheme of things it's not that big a deal to me if they are a good ped and can hit it off with my kids.

I also don't like being called "ma'am" but what can you do? I'm 50 years old and "miss" would just be too weird.

OP, with all the stress with the children, it is just easier, we need to focus on what we are doing, sorry.

It doesn't bother me at all. Some kids don't share the last name of their Mom, so they're probably taking the safe route.
