I would not let this pass...I would make a report to HR...in her pocket or not...her performance is horrendous...

what is the worst that can happen...u get fired?
U figured that was coming anyway....but this looney should not be allowed to get away with this...

I used to get fired regularly. I am a forensic accountant and when companies are unhappy with your results, out you go. I actually told my last employer that I had a "calculator not a magic wand". You get used to it if it is that kind of job.

The first couple of times it really shook me up, after a while I could smell it coming. They don't want to know that it is their wife's poor bookkeeping, their brother-in-law's embezzling or their receptionist's drug habit, they want it to be a clerical error that "just happened". I am rolling my eyes as I type this.

If you are a visible employee with achievements or expertise, at some point you will be fired. Don't advertise that you were fired, clean up and move on.

Good for you to be looking for a new job. That being said I would not speck to her on the phone if at all possible. Document, document, document. Ask for emails instead. In fact, send her an email right now documenting your conversation and ask for a "mail receipt confirmation".

Sound like she is documenting so that she can fire you. Update the resume and start applying!

Agree with PP - if you are fired for cause (performance issues) your employer can challenge your unemployment claim. They have to have documented it.

Getting fired doesn't equate to getting unemployment. You have to be fired for a specifc set of reasons (lay-offs etc). My last company fired people all of the time and denied/fought every unemployment claim (the unemployment office will contact your employer).

Agree with other posters. Start tidying up your office, figure out what you need off of your work computer and maybe transfer it now. Plan what you are going to say in response so you can say it calmly. Start a "next steps" plan re: finding a new job. Maybe take the rest of the day off tomorrow after the "meeting" and see a movie or something. Even if you hate your job and accurately predict what is about to happen, it's still a punch in the gut. But, you will survive it as many of us have.

And, who knows, it might not happen.

I feel like your boss is trying to torture you by sending you an ominous e-mail prior to firing you. If she wants to fire you, she should just do it without trying to make you suffer first.

I say fight it. I was repeatedly told to quit before i got fired by a terrible boss that i once had. I was at a small company that got bought by a big company so once we were absorbed i bypassed old HR (zeros) and went to the new big company HR about my situation. Then my terrible boss lost it with me and i reported it and the following Monday i was told they would find me a new job. All is good now and i get very good performance reviews.

The truth is its easier to find a job when you are employed.
Talk to an employment lawyer and see if they can position you better. Good luck!

i was fired, knew it was coming, was preparing for it by looking for a new job, and it still felt like shit when it actually happened.

sure you know its coming but when the reality of it happens you just sort of pause and think to yourself if this is really happening.

that lasted for about an hour before i got over it and thought of the worthless boss who set me up to get fired
