Not even citizenship. Everyone charged in a US court of law has a right to representation.

Really, because there are about 100 members of congress who should not be in office based on your criteria for representation.

Are you really of the opinion that the reason, practically speaking, that DC doesn't have seats in the House/Senate is local corruption/incompetence? While that's a convenient fig leaf, the reality is that DC is what, 85%+ Democrat, making it impossible to get a representative without some payoff to Republicans.

While disheartening, this is no reason that DC should not be a state. After all, the last 3 out of 3 governors of Illinois are in jail, and nobody's suggested we should revoke their statehood.

DC: We're no worse than Illinois!

Robert McCartney in today's Post says "Then there’s the possibility that Gray won’t even last four years, or that other politicians might fall." He later quotes:

“'This could bring down the entire government,' said a council member, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid being publicly linked to the scandal."

The only elected member of the government that would remain would be Tommy Wells? I'm OK with that. More than OK, actually.

That would be awesome!
