Same here, except mine's only 2. It was very isolating during mommy and me and playgroups when he was younger. Don't worry about what others think, and if you want to get ahead of yourself, google kinetic learner.

I had/have one too! She's less fidgety now at almost 7 months, but still craves stimulation. At nine weeks, she was not one to sit and just look around (unless there were ceiling fans or mini-blinds involved). It was exhausting! In (very short) hindsight, I think most of it was personality, however I do think we were sometimes misinterpreting signals and thinking she wanted more stimulation when she was really overtired and needed sleep.

Funny, I think the fidgety/curious babies look smarter than the type of babies you describe who have no curiosity about the world.

I believe most people have a hard time understanding that most of the time it has to do with personality. There's a book that describes some of this called "Personality Plus" by Florence Liture (not sure about spelling).

Jeez....I really am sorry that your baby is fidgety. I feel lucky mine weren't and I love them dearly. I had double trouble with twins, so I was increadibly thankful that they were not fidgety. I also knew and anticipated their needs before they were upset. And yes, other people's constantly crying babies DO annoy me. I guess I never had kids that just cried for no reason, so I don't understand when they act like that. So yes, it makes me think that there might be a problem.


And WTF business is it of yours if someone else's baby does have a problem? Are you too god damned prissy to be near a SN child? Does it make you "uncomfortable"? You are pathetic.

Holy crap what a bitch you are.

OP, my kids were like yours...and they are still a blur of activity and talking years later. The only thing "wrong" with them is that they have off the charts IQs and are constantly exploring and figuring stuff out and then off to the next thing.

I remember trying to sit through a class at the breastfeeding center with my 12 week old. All the other babies were sleeping or eating while mine was screaming his head off. He only napped in a swing, in the stroller, or while being rocked/carried and we had to rock him forever to fall asleep at night.

It did change. Thank the lord.

Ironically, by about his second birthday he had become pretty laidback. He's a teenager now and very gentle, sweet, compliant, quiet kid. Never would have predicted that!


Quoting myself, to say that my kid got kicked out of baptism class when he was 2 months old. Yes, expelled from his first school experience. I think they decided that clearly I was exhibiting the patience of a saint, and thus needed no further education because they did allow him to receive the sacrament, but told me it was OK if I skipped the lessons.

Hi OP. Maybe she is just not a playgroup kind of kid if she has to sit still for it. At nine weeks, my now 6 m.o. wanted to be walked around at all hours. I popped her in Bjorn and off we went. Or she was in a rocker or swing with and batter operated mobile. Good luck. Sitting is just boring.

Yes, we had/have one of those! And, yes, we MARVEL at how easy going other children are. The good news is that DC is a happy and healthy toddler. The bad news is that he runs circles around us. We definitely have a high-maintenance child and pray for the day that it gets easier.

As for the other PP, ignore people like that. When people have easy kids they have no idea how to handle a child that is not easy. So just let their remarks roll off your back.
