THANK YOU ALL! The suggestions on areas are great, now I've got some specific things to look into. I hadn't really looked at MD at all, simply because I'm not familiar with the area and didn't know where to start. Thank you again for the info!
Working part-time or becoming a nanny (or something similar) isn't really an option. I carry the insurance on both of us and I've worked hard to get to the income level I'm at now, I don't want to go backwards. The goal is to become more self-sufficient . . . not less.
I have no problem looking at 1bd apts and basement apts, that's actually what I've been planning on. We don't need a ton of space. We're sharing a bedroom right now, so even 600sq ft would be an upgrade.
Summers, my mom is available to help with childcare and DC is supposed to go to his father for 4-6wks (has yet to happen, but that's what the CO says). I've got several different budgets laid out already, trying to anticipate all scenarios.
I'm feeling a little more optimistic this morning. Things will work out!
