GL OP! I find it humorous that people here demand this and that with no basis. I can understand your needing a yard, at least it s justified (and not tiresome mindless entitlement).

The yard actually looked okay in the rain (no pooling of water at all), and we put the paperwork together for a lower offer, but not insultingly low--10% off. However, after thinking about it more last night, we're going to pass. We lived in apartments for 13 years in NYC and now rent a home with the most amazing yard, which we use every day. Even with a newborn and a 3 year old, I'm in the yard all the time and love being able to walk out into the backyard and just relax. On to the next house.... As someone else said, some people just aren't outdoor people. Plus, if the house is pretty new or newly renovated, it's possible there wasn't much in the backyard to begin with as it was all ripped out and they just haven't had time to plant stuff or have the work done. For our house, the house's backyard was what sold us -- huge, nicely landscaped, pool. Depends on your priorities. When we had really young kids, we didn't spend nearly as much time in the yard as we do now (kids in elementary and middle school).
