Nah. We baked blueberry muffins yesterday and the kids want to take one to school in their lunchbox tomorrow.
The 5 year old wrote out all of her friend's names on storebought Valentines for her classmates and we put a mini-KitKat bar in each one. No allergies this year.
The 3 year old can't write yet so we decorated cards with stickers and her daycare buddies get a Kitkat too.
I like the 'dress in red' idea, 5 year old can wear special tights with her uniform, she wants a red hearts dress but I don't think we'll have time to shop before the 14th.

We decorated the french doors in our living room with Vday clings -- animals holding hearts or XOXOX or other related stuff. Our preschool requested valentines for each kid in the class so they come home with about 10 each (2 kids) and they love it. They have a little party there too. Grandparents typically send a card and small gift (usuallly a vday book or a bear or something like that). I may make muffins (from a box mix) in a heart shaped pan that fits in the toaster oven (easy) or we thought about making red jello. All of these little holidays are fun to celebrate, in our home. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing and that's okay. I loved when my mom did special stuff on holidays. She used to sell Avon when I was a kid and every year on vday she would give me an Avon pin or kiddie jewelry -- the pins were usually a mouse or some cute design and sometimes it had a little hidden compartment where it had perfume (kind of the consistency of chapstick) or red lips with shiny kiddie lip gloss inside. I still have all of these --I love them! So many days are the same ol, same ol ... I enjoy making the day special.

DS is 6 and had great fun sticking felt flowers from Michael's onto construction paper, decorating with glitter glue and stamping "Happy Valentine's Day" everywhere! 25 cards, one for every classmate, plus family and non-school friends. Whew.

I was happy because he usually hates crafts and this is the first time in his life he has shown interest!!!

What do you do with all the stuff after V-day is over? I'm not making fun, I'm genuinely curious. I find that kind of holiday-themed stuff just clutters my house and then I end up throwing it away.

We're doing something similar too- bought cards for my kids to give at daycare. Got cards for them both from DH and me and 2 small (I mean small!) boxes of Hershey Kisses as one kid has nut and peanut allergies, as well as scratch and sniff Valentine's stickers. My sister will come over tomorrow night with cards for them- they already gave her the one they plastered with stickers. That's it...

Ok I am the outlier here, I went to target and bought a box of valentines for DS to give to classmates. While I was there I bought 3 hearts full of chocolates which my 2 kids and DH and I will all eat tomorrow night.
I will either make a decent dinner or we will order out, whatever the popular vote is.

I'm 33 and just got a valentines day care package in the mail today (stuff for DH and DD too) from my mom. She's always sends me stuff on valentines day. Nothing fancy: a red shirt, themed pjs, vday candies, etc. I love it! Funny though, I rarely get anything for my birthday from my parents anymore. I guess vday is more fun to shop for...

Adult now - my mom always got us little heart pajamas or a tshirt or socks. Sort of like an easter basket but much more played down - that way we could wear our "cool" stuff to school that day

That's kind of what I do. When my kids were little, they usually got a little gift and some candy. Now that they are older, they'll get a little box of candy, a card, and itunes card. I also do a special Valentine's Day breakfast. Something really simple. This year I'm making heart shaped muffins. They also get a card and money from their grandparents. I love Valentine's Day!

I like to bake, so we will make some heart shape cookies and decorate. Heart shape pancakes have also been requested for the morning. I bought a bag of hersheys kisses, so I think I will put a couple under their pillows tonight. We had to do valentines cards and cupcakes for the preschool party.

Kids 7,3,3,1.

I was going to make a lollipop flower and have my children help. But I started to make them last week and the children showed no interest. They are 6 and 4.

So instead, I bought valentine's day cards for their classmates and they just signed their name.

The grandparents brought over big Valentines gift bags yesterday so I am keeping the additional sugar to a minimum.

I am bringing cupcakes which my kids will help decorate tonight to my K's class party. They will both wear red. I will get some balloons, small treats for tomorrow. They helped pick out a V-day card for DH. I am hoping they make me a Valentine at school tomorrow.

That is about it.

Hosted a little playdate today with two of her friends...they made a Valentine on a large red foam heart by decorating it with stickers, stamps, foam shapes, etc. They also put up themed window clings. For snack, I served cheese cut in hearts, apple slices with a pink greek yogurt dip, and heart shaped blueberry muffins. They also decorated cupcakes. FWIW, my daughter is 2.

I am one of the people who said they do stuff in an earlier post, but I wanted to say that we all have our parenting strengths and weaknesses.

I'm crafty, I enjoy it, so I do lots of crafts and stuff with my kids.

But I'm a terrible story teller, I never make up stories for my kids.

I love reading, so I read with my kids a lot.


I'm not into music, so I almost never sing to my kids.

We all have our parenting strengths and weaknesses....don't beat yourself up if crafting isn't one of your strengths.
