Not GBW, but my ds entered AAP as a 4th grader with no summer math prep and did great. He was coming from a regular FCPS 3rd grade. We opted to stay at LLIV, thinking it would be an easier transition. IMO the one drawback to a LLIV is being stuck with the exact same children, and no teacher choice ( or at least no ability to say my child works well with "x" personality.

we stayed at local level IV. Heard from a mom whose dc chose to go to ctr that it's not as great as it used to be. PTA as not as active ass before. She felt her othr dc may have gotten more from local level IV, ESP in math. Just one opinion if u have a choice. most in our community don't think twice about going to the ctr. it's also a an image thing.

Can't say for sure. Yes, you have a big 3rd grade AAP, but you also have to consider the incoming kindergarten class, more students moving into the area, and so forth. We won't know anything until the last week of August.

huh, well, keep us updated. Not like I would actually send my child elsewhere - we only live a couple houses down from the school Can't beat THAT convenience!

I have heard that GBW may be up to 1100 students this coming year. Wonder how big the class sizes will be?

is this because of AAP?

It really depends on how the grades break down...How many in each grade, and then by FCPS standards. I hope my kiddo won't be in a class of 30....but we'll deal.
