It's funny, but this comment actually sums up the anti-gay marriage side pretty tidily. It's also a great example of why social conservatives tend to lose these arguments (against gay marriage, in favor of segregation, against women voting, etc, etc...) At the end of the day, you have to put forth an actual argument--something beyond the Bevis and Butthead level of "Heh heh. That's, like, two guys gettin' married!" The trend towards a total epistemic closure on the right in the last couple of decades hasn't helped much.
A good example here, where the defendants in the Proposition 8 appeal couldn't even be bothered to put forward an argument:
