For anyone from FCPS out there - look what the county has done by starting the testing earlier. Now you have people coaching and testing their kids at an even younger age.
I'm sure there are now 4-5y/o out there attending classes for the aptitude tests....

I heard that Powell ES, Oakton ES got it yesterday in their folders.

I didn't do any test prep for my lower scoring NNAT, and she wasn't as high in cog-at non-verbal, but I suppose it could be viewed as suspect. I will pursue potential possibilities for the discrepancy with the AART experts. I'm wondering if it's just a year's difference or the nature of the test.

I won't appeal if she doesn't get in - for what it's worth.

Please be so kind as to share which schools have received scores already!

We got our weekly folder yesterday but no scores, and nothing in the mail yet either.

Are they 2nd graders now?

One last year. One this year.

I believe last year was the first year they administered the test in the 1st grade so much of the anecdotal data is probably not apples to apples unless it's from this year's second graders.

Did you prep for the Cogat? Trying to decide if I should nudge or leave it alone.

I saw the raw score. Was wondering if I could get more information about what types of Q's DC missed (there are 3 categories of Qs on the test), whether she skipped some, etc. An itemized result is what I'm looking for. Guess not....

Has anyone ever requested a copy if the test their DC took to see which questions were answered correctly or incorrectly? Are they available?

You're kidding about doing a WISC now, right? Why would you do that a year before you might need it (and might not need at all based on CogAT)?

I will not do it a year before. I will of course wait and see what the CogAt scores are like. But I was hoping the NNAT would be high enough that I would know my DC would be in the pool. Now I need to budget for a potential WISC.

or accept that maybe dc isn't who the aap program is for.

Didn't take long for someone to pipe up with a remark like this. Every parent knows their child best - one test, one score doesn't rule out that PP's DC belongs in the program.

Same here.
