Yes! There are lots of better bakeries in DC, some a short walk from GTC.

I picked up a birthday cake from CakeLove last week. On a whim I got a lime(lemon?) cup cake. Omgd, it was to die for. Beat GTC hands down. I think I will get cupcakes instead of cakes from them in the future.

Georgetown Cupcake used to be good, now they sell quantity over quality, but because of that ridiculous show, they still get crowds of people going there.

I think the ones from Something Sweet (near Cactus Cantina) are better.

The cupcakes are pretty but the taste is meh... Mine taste better (IMO) but they wouldn't win a beauty contest.

amazing how I'm watching three women with long hair frost cupcakes on tv, and none of them is wearing a hairnet. Food work is so glamorous.
That was funny whoever said Midwestern dupes would stand in line for hours. I'm from the Midwest - you're right! (except for me - I'm too smart to be herded). haha

The show is terrible because the dialogue is so completely stilted and phony, as if they script ahead of time and try to "act" like it's really how they talk, yet they have to "explain" everything they're doing. And I agree, it's a ridiculous waste of food and resources. I love cupcakes as much as anyone, the ones from my hometown bakery are my favorite treat ever. If you can't serve them off a display, though, they should film them being thrown into the dumpster out back, because I'm sure that's what happens.

What kind of a moron are you that you can't master eating a cupcake?

Here's a tip - break the bottom of the cupcake off (in half) and put it on top of the frosting. You now have the frosting in the middle of the cake parts. I've taught my kids to eat them this way. Less messy.

Those women are terrible. I watched the one where they made the giant cupcake and wanted to smack them both.
