This is so gross OP. Where was this guy raised? Didn't his parents teach him basic habits. Does he brush his teeth? I've never heard of anyone like this but I know there must be a lot of people like this. Maybe he's not getting sick -- but he must be making others sick.

My main concern is that DD will get sick. I've known DH for 7.5 years and he's only had 2 minor colds in that entire time frame. I definitely think his habits have created a highly functioning immune system.

OP, is your husband sick an unusual amount of the time? He would be the main sufferer of this lack of hygiene, if such suffering is happening at all. He probably has a good immune system from constant, low level exposure to all kinds of stuff.

I disagree. I think his DC would suffer more. As you state, his immune system has probably developed apace; he's still bringing this home to a young child who really shouldn't have Metro or bathroom germs go directly into her mouth.

Maybe in the short term, but the kid would get the iron immunity as well in time. It is how most of the world lives, no?

Op - the way I see it, you can't beat yourself up about the past, but if this is important to you, you need to take a stand now- do not accept it, do not compromise. Yes, watch him wash his hands! He will make a huge stink, but do not back down! Good luck!

OP, that is totally gross. Public restrooms, the Metro, money, doorknobs, and god knows what else. What is his problem?? Tell him to start washing; if he doesn't, start ratting him out in front of his mother or whomever else might shame him into some good hygiene habits. Ugh.
