I basically agree that hands should be washed at key times. But everyone has their own standards. Dads have just as much right to decide when and how to manage these issues as moms.
OP, is your husband sick an unusual amount of the time? He would be the main sufferer of this lack of hygiene, if such suffering is happening at all. He probably has a good immune system from constant, low level exposure to all kinds of stuff.
I disagree. I think his DC would suffer more. As you state, his immune system has probably developed apace; he's still bringing this home to a young child who really shouldn't have Metro or bathroom germs go directly into her mouth.
