Regardless of the label, get help, OP. I think you need help with what you're experiencing.

PPD doesn't necessarily include bonding issues--sounds like you've got some PPD.

OK, maybe I'm using the wrong term to describe what was medically happening. I see that many of you understand that's not the point, thank goodness. Thank you for the support and advice.

I was nearing 40 and worried that it would never happen for us again. With our first, we conceived in the second month of trying. Trying for our second wore me out emotionally. Every day for more than a year -- EVERY DAY -- I thought about where I was in my cycle. I was temping, monitoring my cervical mucus (sorry, TMI), researching natural remedies. Every time I saw that first streak of blood (either through menstruation or miscarriage), it was soul crushing.

I'm open to seeking professional help. I don't know much about PPD -- I never even considered it, because I am incredibly bonded with my baby. But I'm coming to understand that PPD means more than bonding issues.

You are not being helpful.

OP knows she's not infertile now, as she's had her second. You are totally missing OP's point. She had a hard time conceiving her second. It involved pain and fear. Now she is dealing with the emotional repercussions if that. Why do you give a flying frack if that meets a particular definition of secondary infertility?

We also were diagnosed at 5 months -- male factor infertility. PP shouldn't be so rigid in her definition.

Yes - I had it around dd 1st bday get a counselor and work through your sadness and grief and stress related to the infertility. It will et better. Take good care of yourself.

Really? NP here. My husband and I didn't need to try for 6-12 months to meet your infertility criteria. My PCOS and his severe male factor infertility would've been there Month 1 or Month 12. So because we didn't even try for one month when we knew I wasn't ovulating and went straight to the RE despite being under AMA, we shouldn't be considered infertile?
