I think you mean baking soda! I do this too and it really helps. I do like the Everclean, though.

We use a combination of the pine *plus* nonscented FreshStep for multiple cats. This is for 3 cats -- four boxes -- all in one bathroom. I've just reluctantly accepted the dust and I do a lot of dusting.

I've tried 6-7 litter, and nothing compares to Dr. Elsey's. The only time I see dust is when I pour out a ton to fill a fresh box, and it settles quickly. I don't have to wear a mask anymore when I clean the litter box.

I'm also searching for low dust cat litter, can stand my fresh step any longer! I just scooped my 2 boxes 10 minutes ago , and am still inhaling the dust that has drifted alllllll the way down the hall from where the boxes are. I hate the dust!!!!!! For what it's worth, I tried the blue buffalo "dustless" litter and it was TERRIBLE! It wreaked so bad, and still had a ton if dust...the dust was just brown instead of gray/white. I couldn't stand it, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone! I've also tried the corn kind, and found it was not a good clumping litter, and it also stunk & had dust. I don't know what I'll try next. I also tried yesterday's news and actually really liked it! My cats hated it, so I eventually switched back to regular old fresh step, but the y.n. didn't smell and there was no dust. THe downside was that the poop just sits there and doesn't get "buried" and stuck to litter, and the pee just sits in the llets and makes them expand. So, you don't know if you're scooping out pee pellets, or your cats are walking around ON the pee pellets lol.

For litter tracking, I bought one of those black floor mats that are meant to be used by doors leading in/outside of the house...its the kind that looks like it has a bunch of little black "wires" criss-crossing all over...kinda squishy/sinks in a bit when you step on it. The litter falls right to he bottom of the mat when my 2 cats step out of the boxes and onto the mat! I have 2 door mats right outside of their boxes (2 boxes, sitting right next to each other practically)...these mats have little squarish indents (pattern) that trap a little bi of he immediate "I just stepped out of the litterbox" pellets. Then, right after the end of those mats is the big wirey one I described above. WORKS LIKE A CHARM!! There is literally MAYBE a few specks of cat litter here and there right outside of the mat, but NoNE through my house anymore!! Hooray!
