Maybe you missed the multiple posts that said the activity is self-selecting. Pretty sure that precludes your kid and any other kid forced to join.

Odyssey of the Mind is typically a PTA run activity and the meetings are usually in the evenings at the school or at someone's house.

OP here. Not sure what you mean by validation.

Thanks to all for the info. In my childhood, Odyssey of the Mind was something that the school had the gifted kids do as part of their curriculum; didn't realize here it was open to all and a voluntary sign-up thing. I don't think I ever got notification about it from our ES, not that it would have mattered since the fact that my husband and I both WOH precludes our child from being able to do at-school, after-school activities.
