Different boat here because I used the shots to stay pregnant (butt / hip once a week for weeks 17-36) but warming the vial first helped some as did massage after injection. As for itchy welts, my OB adjusted (to higher on butt / closer to hip) injection site to get more muscle and less fat and that helped.

Thanks to this forum someone recommended using 1" needles and it made a world of difference in terms of pain. I mean I was hobbling and could barely walk, let alone go up/downstairs or sit comfortably. Once I went to 1" the pain went away. Try doing that and it may relieve some pain for you.

Don't worry I'm doing the same. 3x daily suppositories and every three days a shot. You're good

How can the highlighted portion be true? I'm haven't done PIO yet, but I'm starting next week...but my protocol calls for PIO shots every other day and progesterone vaginal suppositories 3 times daily...all for the same 12ish weeks. So I would in essence be "going back to the needles" the entire time. Do you have a source for this information?

Am I the only person here getting am and pm shots? in addition to Del estrogen every 4th day? I'm on day 4 and don't know how bad it will be at week 11...That's how long I gotta do this for. Yesterday it was the 4th day so that's 3 shots in one day. NOT FUN...hope this will be a successful transfer! Good Luck everyone!

I developed welts about six weeks in. Agree with recommendation of prior posters to heat the area with a heating pad and to massage the area for a few minutes after injecting. It helps dissipate the oil. And give the side with welts a break for a few days.

Oh no. I just posted about extreme muscle pain after PIO and then found this posting. So not only do I have to deal with awful muscle soreness but big itchy welts are on the horizon? Wonderful. I really hope this works the first time. Fingers crossed!

Oh my gosh, of all the message feeds about PIO pain this one is the most validating for me! I had the hardest time with those PIO shots, but no one seemed nearly as bothered by them as me and I've always felt a little crazy about how all-cosumingly painful they were for me. My experience however was identical to PP 01:47 ...after about a week and a half to two weeks I traded the awful muscle soreness for big itchy welts. They weren't much fun either but SO much more tolerable for me than the epic muscle soreness.

So hang in there, it should get better!

it is do-able, i made it through all 10 weeks-never switched to suppositories. it does get easier. i never iced, if anything i heat up the oil a bit in the syringe (using a heating pad.) it sounds to me like you are doing the shots too low. its much higher than you might think, make sure you have the nurse mark it at least once. also you can put your hand on your hips and see where your back fingers splay. doing it a tiny bit more to the side sometimes helps.

I'm week 10- about to be done. Just massage the area fight after you do it and apply a heating paid. You just get used to it.

It seems everyone that is commenting or has questions is only a few days into this. Is there anyone in the forum who are deep into treatment - week 6 or more? Any suggestions?

I'm both sorry and really relieved to hear about all the other people having muscle soreness. I was doing DelEstrogen shots for a while with almost no pain or side effects at all. But since I've started the Progesterone in Oil, it seems like thigh shots are out. I did a shot last night and from the time I finished the injection to going on 20 hours now, my thigh has felt like someone hit me with a hammer! I am limping and having trouble getting out of my car and going up and down stairs as many of you said. I got really worried because I didn't experience any pain with other shots.

I'll try out the heating and squatting techniques you all mentioned. I am a little worried at having to do 7 weeks worth of painful shots too - Yikes. I'll let you know if any of the techniques help. For what it's worth, I don't have anywhere near this kind of pain in my hip.
