It's a beautiful name. I think she will love it.

My daughter has an ethnically mixed name, and it goes over very well. DD likes that it is unique (at least so far as we can tell).

no. she will have (or has) an awesome name.

that said, don't pay attention to the poster who suggested 9-a as a pronunciation.

that's just crazy talk.

Teacher here, with many recent immigrants as students (read: students with two last names, such as Rodriguez Garcia, Rodriguez-Garcia or Rodriguez y Garcia).

Your kid will be fine.

lol funny. Oh yea, awful name. Screams immigrant to me.

I assume this is a t-r-o-l-l, or else this person's last name is something like Running Horse? Because, honey, if it ain't, you're an immigrant.

Yes, it's obvious that PP is a recent immigrant. They're the ones with the most self-hate about this sort of thing. Most of us old-timers, Americanly-speaking, love the melting pot. It's the newcomers who want to pull up the bridge as soon as they're across.

I love Isabella, but DO NOT like Nina. Nina is plain, boring, and 80's-sounding. Together they sound OK but she'll likely just be called Nina... If the pronunciation is '9a' then I like it.

Your attitude screams BITCH to all of us.

Anyway, thank you all for your input. We really appreciate it.

Once we're done I'll ask Jeff to delete it just so DD will never know how insecure I was about naming her

I love Nina Isabella, and Nina Dharpuri. The rest of it is just last-name-for-official-purposes and she can decide what to use and what to drop in the future.

Anyway, I have to say I think that culturally/ethnically blended and hyphenated last names are the wave of the future! You are riding the wave!

Italian-Irish hyphenated last names and international first and middle names were bestowed on our children. They don't even blink. To them, what they have is normal. And in their culturally diverse school, they are the famed "John Jacob Jingle-Heimer-Smiths" as in, "Hey, your name is my name, too!"

Go for it.
