I use to work in a center. I no longer because I couldn't deal with the lack if care by the other staff.. I nanny now but I was the lead teacher in the toddler room. In Virginia toddlers diaper changes are every 2where hours. I didn't follow that. Some of the kids when have horrible diaper rashes if I followed that guideline. I do know some of the teachers would leave a kid in a poppy diaper if they.didn't want to change them. I caught a couple teachers marking that they changed a kid when they didn't. I also kept diaper.rash cream hidden for a sudden breakout and the child didn't have any cream. I made sure to check the records for allergies.

I would suggest you send in a note requesting your kiddo to be changed hourly and send in some preventive ointment like a&d. I don't think desiten or balmex works well as a treatment.

You should document the occurances of each rash and tell the teachers and probably the director. Just need to be proactive and communicate. if things don't improve then it is time to start looking at other centers.

something similar happened to my DS in the last few weeks also. he is 10 months and switched teachers in his nursery (from infants to active babies). i am sure that he isn't being changed as frequently. and for a few days in a row, he has come home with poop in his diaper. his old teacher was very conscientious about changing him before i picked him up, but the new teacher isn't as good about it, and because i had gotten used to him always being clean when i picked him up, i never check him when we get home, so he would sit through the drive home in a dirty diaper. he got the rash with open sores and we treated with Rx cream and then thick desitin and corn starch powder. it's almost gone now.

we told his teacher to change him more frequently, and i always check him when i pick him up now.
