Umm Station Agent was the worst most depressing movie ever! My artsy parents made us watch it last year for Christmas eve. We have a disfunctional family, my brother has depression, another has add, and DH is a recovering alcoholic. It was horrible! Luckily, I have a great sense of humor and can laugh about it all. The movie had something to do with a midget being rejected from society, it was in black and white, and maybe even had subtitles. Awful!

9:44, Avatar was, plotwise, little more than a remake of Dances With Wolves. In space.

Dances with Wolves was horrific. And started the trend that 3 hour movies were Important and so should be made.

"Breaking the Waves" was the worst movie I have ever seen, and I am definitely (for better or worse) an art house kind of gal. It was so bad I had nightmares about being forced to watch it again. Amazing how different reactions can be. Would never go to see anything by him again.

I have always liked Von Trier movies. Now I think there is something wrong with me.

Movie I hated: Avatar (a good plot would have been better than the CGI!).

I just got back from the theater and seeing Melancholia. I don't know about worst movie I've seen, but it was incredibly foul. Earlier in the day I saw The Descendents, which I really enjoyed. Should have quit while I was ahead.

How did I get to these forums? I googled 'Melancholia awful'.

I tried watching Antichrist on Netflix, and couldn't finish it. Compared to Antichrist, Melancholia is a masterpiece!

Worst movie ever: Any Twilight film. I shuddered and cringed throughout the movie, but forced my self through it so that I would know what the plot line was as my daughter will probably like this series someday. (she's 10)

I knew I wouldn't like it when I saw it was produced by Magnolia - I've never liked a single non-documentary film by that production company. Maybe I'm not auteur enough, but yech. So, I am glad that someone else has saved me the time of wondering whether Melancholia would break the cycle. Apparently, it won't.

I do not understand why all these critics praised it. It was horrid.

You're apparently not familiar with the work of the immortal comedic actor (using the term in its loosest possible sense) Pee Wee Herman.

For me it was The Velocity of Gary. I can't even remember why it was so bad, but it was.
