Guys, this person asked in 2011! They have long graduated!

That said if anyone else is wondering, the Christian college landscape has changed. Some schools like Grove City have swung very far right to the Liberty/Hillsdale zone. Messiah, Calvin and Wheaton are all very Christ-centered schools that don't pander to the political Right or fundamentalist views. They still have a ways to ho with lgbtq students though. Eastern too, not sure where they stand on lgbtq, but Tony Campolo is awesome.

It’s a terrific education — beautiful and so friendly, too.

The highest ranked religious "Christian" university out there is University of Notre Dame. It's Catholic, so not sure it meets OP's needs. It also tends to embrace its religious affiliation more than other Catholic universities.

Know lots of kids that went to Elizabethtown in Pennsylvania and really thrived. I’ve heard Albright in Pa is pretty good. Given her interests Pepperdine should be at the top of her list.

Also a dry campus.
Lutherans are the most easy going, least evangelical or intense of the Christian religions.
