Yes, it is!

I recommend that you 1) fill out an online application and 2)call the ESOL office and tell them you are certified in MD state to teach ESOL and have filled out an online application. They may be able to give you more information.

Does MCPS have ESOL assistants or anything like that in case I don't get hired. I don't mind starting at the bottom. Thanks!


No. Really, I would start subbing. It's how I got my start while I was finishing up my grad school. Get on the sub line and you will become known at some schools, you'll build relationships and those teachers might request you as a sub, then someone gets pregnant and you land a long-term position for her maternity leave. If you have a grad degree actually in ESOL, you will be a more preferred candidate than someone who just took the Praxis.
