DS does not like chicken, fries or cheeseburger, so we most of the time have to order a regular meal. But I would not mind getting kids menu if one day DS ask for it.

Last week, DS8 ordered a kobe beef steak from the menu of a Japanese restaurant because he does not like fish/seaweed/roe/miso.

The steak cost $34.00, and he ate about five bites and pronounced it delicious.

Steak the next day in a doggy bag is just not steak, you'll never convince me otherwise.

(in case I'm being too obtuse, this is precisely the situation where I would've wanted to see a "kids menu" with some standard bland fare. Like a rice cake with a teriyaki chicken strip, for example)

That was my impression as well. My kids used to love the kids menu! Let's see....baked chicken over rice with broccoli. Or mozzarella sticks with dipping sauce. My kids would have chosen the mozzarella sticks every time. I cook healthy meals at home at least six nights a week. I'm not too worried about what they eat once a week when we go out.

This is the way I think for not only my kids, but for me. Most of our meals are healthy. Once a week or so, my kids and I should be able to "splurge" and eat what we want. That being said, I try to make the kids meals a little healthier if I can by subbing fruit for fries or something similar, but if they really want fries, I don't sweat it since it's not what they're eating every day.
