Yes with movies and tv shows but not books. My husband will tell me "we've seen this movie before." I'll watch it, get to the last 10 minutes and realize...I've seen it before. Also happens with tv shows.

Glad I'm not the only avid reader with a "retention" problem. I have read thousands of books, but can only remember the plot of some. And those are mainly the ones that were made into movies so it "sticks" more. It's really embarrassing when I loan someone a book that I've went on and on about and then when they want to discuss it, I have to fake remembering what they're talking about!

The books that tend to stick the most are the ones that make me cry or tug at me emotionally (Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, She's Come Undone, Pride and Prejudice).

You have not idea how glad I am that you posted about this. I have the exact same issue. DH has great long-term memory and he always tells me that we watched this or that movie together a loooong time ago and I have no recollection or just a faint memory. He can remember entire plots, conversations of movies, books etc. I started worrying that something was seriously wrong with me...
